Worlds Smallest Washing Machine

The Scrubba Wash Bag is the world’s smallest washing machine and the ultimate travel and camping essential. You won’t believe how good it is.

After quitting his job as a patent attorney, founder and managing director of The Scrubba, Ash Newland decided to take the trip of a lifetime with a mate and travel to Tanzania to hike Mt Kilimanjaro. He soon discovered he had a problem.

“I realised that with all my cold weather and camping gear I would only be able to take a few changes of clothing and would have to wash them regularly,” said Newland.

“While waterproof bags can be used to soak clothing, they really aren’t very efficient. It was then that I had the revelation that washboards have been around for centuries and they work! If we could incorporate a flexible washboard into a sealable bag, we could change the way people wash clothing when they travel.”

From here, the Scrubba wash bag was born. Our ultra-portable washing machine makes your journey easier and now features a new easy to use twist valve for deflation.  This convenient, pocket-sized travel companion allows you to travel lighter and helps you save money, time and water. Weighing less than 142g the Scrubba Wash Bag is a modern take on the old fashioned washboard. It is twice as effective as hand washing and a lot more hygienic that a dirty hotel sink.

Over 100,000 travellers, campers, backpackers, hikers and holiday makers have experienced firsthand the quality wash our internal flexible washboard delivers and haven’t looked back since.
