Sweating Mud

Flesh-ripping barbed wire, choking mud pits, flame-throwers — no, it’s not the Ed’s office at MF, it’s the wild world of obstacle racing. Try our conditioning program to build the strength and fitness you need to power through your next event.

Not everyone happens to have monkey bars and a three-metre wall in their back yard, let alone 100 metres of barbed wire and a six-metre climbing rope. To help you get fitter and stronger for your next Spartan Race, Tough Mudder or Warrior Dash, here are two workouts that will build the strength, speed, agility and endurance required to dominate any obstacle race. All you need is a sandbag (or barbell), a sandball (or kettlebell) and a footy oval.

Demonstrating the workouts for MF is their creator, Sydney-based Chief Brabon, a leader in bootcamp-style training and conditioning for obstacle-course racing, who based them on the program he created for physical trainers from Britain’s elite Special Reconnaissance Regiment and used by his bootcampers to take out first place in the teams event at the Spartan Sprint.
