Have you made any specific changes to your training regimen to prepare for the Torian Pro, and how do you feel about your level of readiness for the competition?
I am still doing my main session in the gym at 2 pm each day but I have made a few changes to my training. Adding in Zone 2 pieces 3 days a week, running session Wednesday morning, Active recovery day on Thursday (Zone 2 piece and swimming), and training on Saturdays (where previously I would of had the whole weekend as rest). I am feeling really good about the Torian Pro, the main theme for me in this training camp has been focused and locked in. Blocking out any distractions and doing everything in my power to have the best season possible.
What do you hope to achieve in the Torian Pro in Brisbane? How do you think you’ll fare?
Respectively, I want to put on a strong performance and show all the work I have put in. The plan is always going there to win and punch my 4th ticket to the CrossFit Games.
What fellow competitor/s/teams are performing well and worth watching, besides yourself of course, on May 26th?
On the men’s side, it’s going to be really interesting. Unfortunately, Ricky Garard being injured has forced him to sit out for the season. The flip side of this is it opens another CrossFit Games spot. I am excited to see what boys rise to the occasion and fight for those spots. There is plenty of up-and-coming talent. I think it could be up to 6-7 boys that will be battling for the top 3.
Of all the workouts that could be released for the Pro, what element would you least like to see?
It’s CrossFit, right? You have to be ready for everything and anything. All I can do is trust the work that I have put in to prepare for this competition and be ready for whatever comes my way.
Do you have any pre-workout rituals?
Nothing too interesting to be honest. I do know when I am on that start line when we get the 10-second countdown you’ll see me swinging my arms, geed up ready to go! I really feed off the energy of the crowd/fans and the Torian Pro really knows how to get it going. And of course, let’s not forget the importance of lacing up my Reebok workout shoes before go time!
What motivates you to compete?
Number 1 is fun but also the feeling of winning. The level of happiness you get from achieving something great is like nothing else.
